    How to Do Reverse Delay in FL Studio

    FL Studio doesn't have a one-click reverse-delay effect, but Edison plus a tempo-synced delay gets you there by hand — same chain as reverse reverb, with the added requirement that the echoes land on the beat.

    Method 1: The Manual Way (Edison + Delay)

    Step 1 — Get your sound into Edison. Record or drag in the hit or phrase you want echoes to build into.

    Step 2 — Reverse the sample. Use Edison's Reverse tool.

    Step 3 — Render the reversed sample. Save it out to a Channel Rack slot or the Playlist.

    Step 4 — Add a tempo-synced delay. Drop a delay (Fruity Delay 3 or similar) on the mixer track, and set the delay time to a musical division synced to your project tempo.

    Step 5 — Bounce it. Render the reversed-plus-delay signal to a new audio clip.

    Step 6 — Reverse again. Bring the bounce back into Edison and Reverse it once more — the taps should now stack up toward your original hit, landing on the beat if the delay was tempo-synced correctly.

    Step 7 — Line it up. Drag the clip in the Playlist so the final tap lands exactly where you want, trimming as needed.

    Common Mistakes

    • Non-synced delay time — free-running delay times won't land on the grid after the flip.
    • Too much feedback — buries the transient instead of building into it.
    • Skipping the render before the second reverse — you'll reverse the dry signal instead of the processed one.
    • Not zooming in per-tap — each echo is individually audible; check them against the grid one at a time.

    Method 2: A Real-Time Insert (Slingshot)

    The Edison chain is free but has to be rebuilt from scratch whenever the part or tempo changes. Slingshot drops onto a mixer channel as a single VST3 insert and generates the stacked, tempo-synced taps live — no rendering, no re-reversing.

    Which Method Should You Use?

    Use the manual method if: one-off use, a specific delay you already own, or you like the process. Use a real-time plugin if: the part or tempo keeps changing, or you want it editable live.
